Police seize uncut jade stones in vehicle search in Indaw

Different sizes of raw jade stones were confiscated from two cars in a search operation in Indaw Township, Sagaing Region on 15 July.

Following a tipoff, a police squad led by Police Sub-inspector Thet Oo Maung intercepted two cars near Laenaung Village in Indaw Township on the Shwebo-Myitkyina Road at about 5:35 p.m. on 15 July. The thorough search for two cars led to the discovery of 267 uncut jade stones weighing 958 kilograms. The various kinds of raw jade stones were concealed inside the cars’ floors.

Upon interrogating the two motorists plus their two colleagues, they confessed that the uncut jade stones were taken from Phakant to Mandalay. In connection with the case, action is being taken against the four men under the Myanmar Gemstone Law by the local police.—Ni Toe
