Police wipes out poppy fields across Myanmar

A combined squad annihilated about 13 acres of poppy field about two miles south of Donliton Village in Hopong Township, Shan State from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. on 30 December.

         

Similarly, a local anti-drug team from Naungtayar police station destroyed 9 acres of poppy plantations about one mile west of Tokkhe Village in Pinlaung Township on the same day. Likewise, a police force wiped out 13 acres of poppy plantation near Langan Village, Waingmaw Township in Kachin State on the same day. Also an anti-drug squad from Khamti Police Station eradicated around 11 acres of poppy plantation about three miles north of Kankaw Village, Nanyon Township in Sagaing Region.

         

The Myanmar Police Force has been stepping up campaigns to destroy poppy cultivation throughout the country in cooperation with people, local authorities and civil society organizations.—MOHA
