Saudi Arabia and the United States are suggesting that Iran was behind Saturday's attacks. Iran denies involvement.

Pompeo left Andrews Air Force Base near Washington late on Tuesday local time.

The US State Department says Pompeo will meet with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to "coordinate efforts to counter Iranian aggression in the region."

Pompeo will also visit the United Arab Emirates.

Trump told reporters on his way to California on Tuesday that he never rules anything out but prefers not to meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
