Poppy plantations wiped out in southern Shan State

The police destroyed acres of poppy plantations in Hopong and Hsiseng Townships in Southern Shan State on Monday, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

 

An anti-drug squad from the township police force destroyed almost 11 acres of poppy fields about one mile east of Ngoshee Village, Hopong Township in southern Shan State on 6 January. At the same time, another police squad the township police force eradicated around 35 acres of poppy plantations near Bankhu Village in Hopong Townships, southern Shan State on the same day.

 

The Myanmar Police Force has been stepping up campaigns to destroy poppy cultivation throughout the country in cooperation with people, local authorities and civil society organizations.—MOHA
