President U Win Myint inspects Thanlyin Bridge-3, 25 KW TM 2500 power station

President U Win Myint accompanied by officials inspected the Bago River Bridge (Thanlyin Bridge-3) construction site yesterday morning.


The President and party were briefed about status of roads and bridges in Yangon, inner and outer circuit roads in relation to bridges and status of constructing the Bago River Bridge (Thanlyin Bridge-3) by Union Minister for Construction U Han Zaw at the project briefing hall.


Next, Deputy Director General U Nay AungYe Myint of the Bridge department gave a briefing about particulars of the Bago River Bridge (Thanlyin Bridge-3) project, benefit of constructing the bridge, construction stages, coordination with departmental organizations and resolving land issues of farmlands and other lands that were in the path of the bridge and road.


The President commented that Yangon was an important city for the country as well as for the economy and the government was doing the best it can in the road transport sector for the people. He expressed his appreciation towards the government of Japan and the Japanese ambassador for their support in implementing the bridge project as well as to the concerned officials.

 

The President also spoke of the importance of constructing the bridge on schedule as well as per set standards and norms; and showcasing the capability of officials, engineers and technicians by constructing the bridge as an exemplary bridge. In addition to constructing the bridge, Thilawa Special Economic Zone and Myanmar International Terminals Thilawa (MITT) were being implemented on Thanlyin side and there would be rapid development of the socio-economic situation of the people of not only the southern Yangon townships of Thanlyin, Kyauktan, Kayan and Thongwa but also the whole of Yangon, said the President.


Afterwards the President presented fruit baskets to engineers and technicians from Japan working on the bridge construction project and inspected the project site.


From there the President and party went to the Thakayta Power Station in Yangon Region, Thakayta Township. The President and party were explained about yearly rising demand for electricity according to the Myanmar National Electrification Plan (NEP), total installed capacity of power stations in 2019, total installed capacity of power stations in 2020 according to Myanmar NEP, power requirements and status of year wise additional power generated and electricity distributed to Yangon Region from the national grid by Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Win Khaing in the power station briefing hall.


Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein also provided additional explanations about the future electricity requirements of Yangon Region.


In response to the explanations, the President said the government was making it a priority work to provide road transports and full electricity. Both support not only the social, economy, education and health sector of the citizens but also support the development in the investment sector. As power generation rises, usage would also increase and officials were required to make necessary preparation for this. All the responsible persons from the ministry were required to strive towards providing full and uninterrupted power supply, said the President.


Later the President and party inspected the Trailer Mounted Duel Fuel Generator (TM 2500) and control room purchased with the President’s special fund to provide sufficient electricity to Yangon. —MNA  (Translated by Zaw Min)
