PWD rights working committee holds 5th edition meeting

The Working Committee for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities organized the 5th edition of its meeting through video conferencing at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement yesterday.

The Vice Chairman of committee and the Deputy Minister for SWRR, U Soe Aung, its members Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun, Deputy Minister for Health and Sports Dr Mya Lay Sein, permanent secretaries, directors-general, deputy directors-general, representatives of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission and the Myanmar Federation of PWDs and civil organizations for the rights of PWDs.

In his opening remark, the Vice Chairman explained 19 resolutions in the 4th meeting of working committee, the completion of 12 points, 5 ongoing points and 2 remaining points to be done.  The committee will also publish annual report, expand working on grading and registration of disabilities as this process is very supportive of sustainable development for PWDs. The Deputy Minister talked on educative programmes for PWDs, financial support for 665 families of PWDs, cash fund for two PWDs infected by the COVID-19, early adopting of the 5-year term of National Strategic Plan in Mainstreaming the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, publication of IEC materials, relief aid for the IDPs in line with the policy of ‘no one is left behind’.
