Pwintbyu 19 March

Pwintbyu Township in Magway Region has successfully harvested all acres of butter beans planted in winter crops season, according to the Township Agriculture Department. The township cultivated 9,580 acres of butter beans in winter and harvesting began in February this year, yielding 27.07 baskets per acre.

“In the township, a total of 9,580 acres of butter beans were cultivated in the winter season. Now, all have been harvested. Our department is providing assistance to expand the butter beans cultivation and to choose high-yield pure seeds,” according to an official from the Township Agriculture Department.

The Department is providing education on selecting high-yield seeds, applying good agricultural methods, utilizing fertilizer systematically, preventing pest infestations and ensuring the increased yields. If the butter beans cultivation is expanded, it will ensure sufficient supply for local consumption and increase the farmers’ income by selling the surplus.
