U Aung Linn Dwe, Speaker of the Py­idaungsu Hluttaw and Speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw, received Ms Ma Jia, Ambassador of China to Myanmar, yesterday in the reception hall of the Amyotha Hluttaw Building at the Hlut­taw Complex in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker held cordial and frank discussions on enhancing cooperation between the National Peo­ple’s Congress of China and the Myan­mar Hluttaws, creating new opportuni­ties for neighbouring countries through China’s economic achievements and new policies, Myanmar’s implementa­tion of a region-based federal system to strengthen its democratic transition, and promoting increased investment from China as Myanmar’s largest trad­ing partner and second-largest inves­tor. They also discussed the invitation extended to armed groups to partici­pate in peace talks from 20 April to 31 July 2026, under the new government’s peace initiative, as well as measures to maintain border stability and deepen bilateral cooperation along the shared border between the two countries.

 

Amyotha Hluttaw Deputy Speaker Jeng Phang Naw Taung, the Chairman and the Secretary of the Internation­al Relations Committee, and officials from both the Amyotha Hluttaw Office and the Chinese Embassy were pres­ent on the occasion. — MNA/TH
