PYITHU Hluttaw Speak­er U Khin Yi received Dr Md Monwar Hossain, Am­bassador of Bangladesh to Myanmar, yesterday at the Pyithu Hluttaw Guest Hall in the Hluttaw Building in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

 

The Speaker noted that, following the election, the three major pillars of governance have emerged and that the Hluttaw is actively carrying out its legislative responsibilities to support national devel­opment, improve the so­cioeconomic well-being of the people, and enact laws suited to contemporary needs, adding that the An­ti-Online Scam Bill is cur­rently under discussion in the Hluttaw and expressing his hope that the Ambas­sador would help promote communication and coop­eration between the parlia­ments of the two countries.

 

The Bangladeshi ambassador enquired about the formation of Myanmar’s Hluttaws and election-related matters, explained the current structure of the Bang­ladeshi Parliament, and raised questions concern­ing immigration-related issues.

 

Also present at the meeting were Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn, offi­cials from the Office of the Pyithu Hluttaw, and offi­cials from the Embassy of Bangladesh to Myanmar. — MNA/TH
