Pyu, May 20
Pyu Township in Bago Region plans to cultivate 150,954 acres of rain-fed paddy in 2026, and efforts are underway to achieve the target, according to the Township Agriculture Supervision Committee.
The main paddy varieties cultivated in the township include Sinthukha, Day-90, Yadanartoe, Hnankauk, and Aung Naing Toe, which are well-suited to the local climate and soil conditions.
To help meet the cultivation target, the Department of Agriculture is providing technical assistance to farmers and encouraging them to shift from the traditional dry sowing method to the Drum Seeder system. — Nay Myo Lwin (IPRD)
