Rare and invaluable paintings by Myanmar artists at auction

AN international auction to sell invaluable and historic paintings by Myanmar artists was held for the first time in Myanmar at the Inya Lake Hotel. A range of the rare art works are on display.

The auction is being organized by Myanmar Auction Co.,Ltd. Paintings. Works by Myanmar artists and local and international antiquities are on display there.

“ We organize car, motorcycle, machinery, antiquity, and painting auctions. We have organized two auctions. This is our second step. There are 60 painting and 40 antiquities on display. The paintings were famous and well known at one time. Most of the antiquities are international,” said an official.

The prices ranged from 500US$ to 10,000US$. As this is an auction, there is also a hard floor price and items go to the highest bidder. As there are works of famous Myanmar artists, there has been a lot of interest. Officials of embassies were also invited, so that they will know their items are still surviving in Myanmar, said Marketing Director of Myanmar Auction Co.,Ltd, Ko Sai Sit Moe Thaw.

At the event, there are antiques, such as a station clock, ship clock, typewriter, flash light, ship lamp, blades, diving apparatus and military uniforms from Myanmar, Japan, London, India, China, France and Germany. The auction will be held on September 21st and 22nd from 9 am to 5 pm.—Nyi Zaw Moe
