Refresher course for Mon language teachers conducted in Paung Township

The closing ceremony of a refresher course for Mon language teachers was held at Golden Jubilee Hall of a basic education high school in Paung Township, Mon State yesterday morning.

Firstly, Mon State Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Dr. Min Kyi Win gave an opening speech. Next, Chairperson of Mon State Ethnic Affairs Committee U Tun Min Aung expressed thanks to organizers and Mon language teachers and on behalf of the trainees Paung Township Education Officer Daw San San Aye spoke words of gratitude.
    

 

Afterwards, the Mon State minister and concerned officials presented certificate of honour to well-wishers who contributed financial assistance to materialize the course and completion certificates to the trainees. The five-day Mon language refresher course was attended by 86 trainees from Paung and Thaton Townships.

Schools in Paung Township embarked on teaching ethnic languages since 2017 and there are 37 Mon language schools, 13 S’gaw Karen language schools, 21 Poe Karen language schools and three PaO language schools in the township.—Ko Hein (Paung)
