An MAI relief flight transported 132 Myanmar nationals stranded abroad from Incheon International Airport, South Korea, to Yangon International Airport around 8 pm yesterday.
The passengers included 72 Myanmar nationals from South Korea and 60 Myanmar nationals from Belgium, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Norway, Qatar, Britain, Italy, America, and Hong Kong who had been stranded overseas since the suspension of commercial flights due to the spread of COVID-19.
In addition, seven Myanmar nationals stranded in France and 25 Myanmar seamen stranded in Italy were transported back from France to Yangon by special flight Amelia-NL 401 yesterday morning.
The Myanmar nationals were subjected to medical checkups upon arrival and will be quarantined for 21 days as managed by Yangon Region government and relevant ministry departments.
The National-level Central Committee on Protection, Containment and Treatment of COVID-19 has been working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, relevant ministries and Myanmar embassies to bring back Myanmar nationals facing difficulties overseas.
