A retaining wall along Chindwin River built in Budalin Township

Budalin, 8 June

Construction of a riverbank erosion prevention task along the Chindwin River near Wunpo Village, Budalin Township in Sagaing Region was reportedly completed by 100 percent.

The project was undertaken with the fund allotted by the local government in the current fiscal year. The riverbank protection project measuring 625 ft. in length was built a private construction company with Ks. 160 million.

“Some boats drive closely with the riverbank when the water level of Chindwin River rises. Arable farmlands were eroded by the river water. The village would be affected by erosion of the riverbank. So we submitted a plan to build a retaining wall, said U Nyi Nyi Tun, the village administrator. The project began in February this year.

Officials from the Department of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems and the township quality inspection committee made an inspection tour to the construction site to urge concerned officials for timely completion by meeting the set standard.
