Rural bridge commissioned into service in Katha Township

Katha, 15 January

         

A ceremony to put a small rural bridge into service took place in Pho Thar Aung Village, Katha Township in Sagaing Region yesterday morning.

         

The event was held at the arch of the bridge whereas Regional Lawmakers U Nyi Nyi Tun, the deputy township education officer, an official from the Information and Public Relations Department and a village administrator cut a ceremonial ribbon to open the facility.

The bridge is of wooden type and measures 280 ft. in length and 6 ft. in width. The structure named “Aung Pyi Thit” was built with Ks. 3 million funded by the local government in the fiscal year 2019-2020 and Ks. 2 million contributed by local people.

         

Residents from nearby villages will be able to traverse the bridge in all seasons with greater ease, thereby contributing to socioeconomic development of the area.—Naing Lin Htet (IPRD)
