Rural suspension bridge opens to public in Gangaw

An inauguration ceremony of a suspension bridge over the Myitthar River was held at the grounds near the bridge in Gangaw Township, Magway Region this morning, with an address by Amyotha Hluttaw Representative U Pyue Lwin.
    

Next, the Pyithu Hluttaw lawmaker Daw Yin Min Hlaing called for durability of the bridge and the Myotha Hluttaw representative elaborated on works about the bridge. Then the lawmakers, regional legislator U Aung San Win and Gangaw District Deputy Commissioner U Kyaw Min Nyo cut a ceremonial ribbon to open the bridge. 
    

Local people from nearby villages will be able to use the new bridge and road in all seasons with greater ease, thereby contributing to development in education, health and social sectors, said U Myint Aung, a village elder. The bridge is 790 ft. long, 7 ft. wide and 20 ft. high. It was built with more than Ks. 28 million donated by local people.
    

Construction of the bridge commenced on 25 December 2018 and was completed on 25 May this year. The bridge linking two villages was built on a self-reliant basis.—IPRD
