SAC member, officials attend 77th Union Day celebration in Sittway

State Administration Council Member Dr Ba Shwe, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan, Rakh­ine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin and his wife, responsible of­ficials, teachers, and students attended the 77th Anniversary of Union Day ceremony at the Khine Thazin Hall in Sittway, Rakhine State, yesterday.

 

Firstly, Dr Ba Shwe read the message from the SAC Chair­man Prime Minister.

 

Following this, distinguished officials honoured the victors of under-25 and over-25 chess matches commemorating the 77th Anniversary of Union Day and winners of essay competi­tions spanning primary, middle, and high school levels, along with those at higher education insti­tutions.

 

The SAC member and his team also observed the mon­astery damaged by Cyclone Mocha. Later, they visited the Lawkananda Pagoda to pay hom­age and offer flowers and water.

 

Subsequently, he greeted the staff of the Department of Ethnical Literature and Culture and expressed his commitment to finding a solution for armed conflicts. In the afternoon, he met with displaced staff mem­bers at the Rakhine State gov­ernment’s guesthouse meeting room. He reassured them to help relieve their challenges, includ­ing surging commodity prices.

 

The delegation also toured the Cyclone Mocha-affected Sit­tway University, assessing the maintenance progress of its main hall and convocation build­ing. During the visit, he engaged with faculty members, providing updates on the status of ongoing armed conflicts and the efforts underway to maintain order.

 

The faculty members, in turn, provided Dr Ba Shwe with updates on the status of day and distance education students. — MNA/NT
