Members of the State Administration Council Mahn Nyein Maung and Khun San Lwin, along with Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Kayin State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo, and U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Head of the Council’s Central Advisory Committee met representatives of ethnic groups in Zwekabin Hall in Hpa-an, Kayin State. The meeting, held yesterday, gathered members from ethnic peace organizations, political parties, cultural associations, social organizations, government departments, and various community groups.
At the gathering, Mahn Nyein Maung discussed the council’s efforts toward national peace, stability, and development, emphasizing ongoing peace initiatives. Khun San Lwin spoke about the challenges faced due to armed conflicts and called for public cooperation in anti-terrorism operations and strengthening health, education, and human resource development among ethnic communities.
Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung elaborated on the government’s support for ethnic languages, literature, and cultural preservation. Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo highlighted regional development in Kayin State, including health, education, and agriculture sectors, alongside peace initiatives.
During the discussion, leaders from various groups shared their views on peace-building, elections, and local development. In response, SAC members, ministers, and officials provided clarifications and engaged in dialogues on these subjects.
Following the discussion, SAC members, the Union minister, the chief minister, and the advisory committee head awarded financial support to local ethnic literature and cultural groups. They also greeted the attendees warmly, offering words of encouragement. — MNA/KZL
