Members of the State Admin­istration Council Mahn Nyein Maung and Khun San Lwin, along with Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Kayin State Chief Min­ister U Saw Myint Oo, and U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Head of the Council’s Central Advisory Committee met representatives of ethnic groups in Zwekabin Hall in Hpa-an, Kayin State. The meeting, held yesterday, gath­ered members from ethnic peace organizations, political parties, cultural associations, social or­ganizations, government depart­ments, and various community groups.

 

At the gathering, Mahn Nye­in Maung discussed the council’s efforts toward national peace, stability, and development, em­phasizing ongoing peace initi­atives. Khun San Lwin spoke about the challenges faced due to armed conflicts and called for public cooperation in anti-ter­rorism operations and strength­ening health, education, and human resource development among ethnic communities.

 

Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung elaborated on the government’s support for ethnic languages, literature, and cul­tural preservation. Chief Minis­ter U Saw Myint Oo highlighted regional development in Kayin State, including health, educa­tion, and agriculture sectors, alongside peace initiatives.

 

During the discussion, lead­ers from various groups shared their views on peace-building, elections, and local development. In response, SAC members, ministers, and officials provid­ed clarifications and engaged in dialogues on these subjects.

 

Following the discussion, SAC members, the Union minis­ter, the chief minister, and the ad­visory committee head awarded financial support to local ethnic literature and cultural groups. They also greeted the attend­ees warmly, offering words of encouragement. — MNA/KZL
