Safety measures taken at overflowing Mann Creek Dam

Officials yesterday checked the safety of Mann Creek Dam in Ngaphe Township, Magway Region, as its spillway was overflowing.


U Win Maw Htay, the regional minister for irrigation, and officials visited the dam, and heard a report on the water inflow, the overflowing main spillway, water supply for Aingma diversion dam and crops in Ngaphe Township, the current water level of the reservoir, installation of warning signs (green flags), and preparatory measures presented by an irrigation official.


According to the survey at 6 pm yesterday, the water level of the reservoir was at 626.50 feet which was 1.50 feet higher than the water mark at its full brim, explained the in-charge of the dam. Thus the water level had reached 1.50 feet above the spillway.
