Safety measures of vessels checked in Mandalay

A combined team of private vessels supervisory committee in Mandalay inspected safety measures of cargo and passenger vessels at the jetty of central Myanmar city yesterday.


Rules and regulations for the vessels include carrying life jackets, the number of passengers, the weight of cargo and license of vessel workers.


U Thant Zin Oo, officer of Department of Marine Administration, said, “We checked the safety measures at the vessels at Mandalay jetty to make sure they follow disciplinary rules”, adding that most of the cargo vessels carry commodities over load.


U Htoo, a member of Private Vessels Supervisory Committee did not allow to raise anchors if these vessels failed to abide by the rules.


The committee is comprised with the Department of Marine Administration, Maritime Police Force (Mandalay), Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems, General Administration Department and Private Vessel Owners Association.— ATK
