Saudi-led coalition intercepts drone launched towards Saudi border city

September 4

Saudi-led coalition involved in a war in Yemen intercepted Tuesday a drone launched towards Saudi border city Khamis Mushayt, said the Saudi Press Agency.

Turki Al Maliki, spokesperson of the coalition, said in a statement that the drone launched from Yemeni city Imran on Tuesday evening was destroyed before reaching its target.

It is the second attempted drone attack by Houthis militia on Tuesday as the coalition intercepted the first drone in the morning.

He added that the attempts of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia to launch drones are doomed to fail as the coalition is taking the best means to deal with these aircraft so as to protect civilians.

Al Maliki stressed that the joint forces of the coalition are continuing to implement deterrent measures against the militia, to strictly neutralize and destroy such capabilities in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules.
