SEA human rights institutions forum convenes 1st work group meeting

The South East Asia National Human Rights Institutions Forum (SEANF) is holding its 1st work group meeting under the 2020 rotating chairmanship of Indonesia from 12 to 14 May.


The meeting through video conferencing was taken part by the chairman, the vice chairman and members of Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, together with representatives of those commissions from Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Timor Leste.


The meeting of forum was held through video conferencing for the first time due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.


In the discussions of member countries on their works in human rights after the 16th Annual Conference of SEANF, U Paw Lwin Sein, member of Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, made discussions on the progress of tasks carried out by the MNHRC.


Regarding the role and actions of human rights commissions, Dr Than Myint, member of MNHRC, presented Myanmar’s measures against the COVID-19 and the works of the commission.—MNA
