Second Amyotha Hluttaw resumes 12th regular session, asterisk marked Qs raised

The 12th regular session of the Second Amyotha Hluttaw held its first day meeting yesterday morning at Amyotha Hluttaw’s meeting hall where new Tatmadaw Amyotha Hluttaw representatives were sworn-in, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker delivered a message of greeting, asterisk marked questions were raised and answered, a bill tabled and a report on the bill read.

In his message of greeting to the Hluttaw representatives Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than spoke of his happiness in seeing all Hluttaw representatives attending the meeting in good health and refreshed. The voices, wills and expectations of the people obtained while the Hluttaw was in recess could now be systematically implemented within the frame of laws and rules he added.

As the Hluttaw’s term had passed three years and was entering its fourth year, Hluttaw representatives were believed to conduct their works according to laws, rules and Hluttaw procedures. Thus the Hluttaw representatives were urged to systematically perform their legislative duties, check and balancing of administrative and judicial sectors said the Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker.

Asterisk marked question and answer session

In the asterisk marked question and answer session that follows, a question on systematic registration of migrant workers working within the country so that they can vote in elections raised by Dr. San Maung Maung of Bago Region constituency 1 was answered by Union Election Commission member U Soe Rae.

Questions raised by four Hluttaw representatives including U Khin Myo Win of the Taninthayi Region constituency 12, U Mya Min Swe of Magway Region constituency 9 and U Pyu Lwin of Magway Region constituency 12 covering plan to construct a control tower in Bokpyin Airport, Bokpyin Township, Kawthoung District, Taninthayi Region, repairing of line phones, upgrade Pakokku port and plan to open a Road Transportation Administration Department in Gangaw Township, Gangaw District, Magway Region was also answered by Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Kyaw Myo.

2019 bill amending Myanmar Investment Law tabled and report read
After the asterisk marked question and answer session Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Thaung Tun tabled a 2019 bill amending Myanmar Investment Law and Amyotha Hluttaw Bill Committee member U Kyaw Kyaw read and explained a report on the committee’s findings on the bill.

Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker announced for Hluttaw representatives who want to table amendment motions to register their names. The second-day meeting of the second Amyotha Hluttaw’s 12th regular session will be held on May 2.—MNA (Translated by Zaw Min)
