In order to install vessel monitoring system-VMS, six companies were selected by the Department of Fisheries, according to Deputy Director-General from the Department of Fisheries U Myint Zin Htoo.
The selected companies were urged to install the VMS by the end of October this year. The companies are domestic companies however; the machines that will be installed are from foreign countries. The companies will cooperate with foreign companies to install the system, he added.
The companies have to install the designated kind of machines; however, they can choose their favorite companies. Once completed, the track of offshore fishing vessels, fishing areas and rate of fishing can be followed by the Department of Fisheries. Accordingly, the installation will provide to handle the rate of fishing by the offshore fishing vessels, said Director-General of the Department of Fisheries U Khin Maung Maw. Thurein Kyaw
