Six villages in Ngayokekaung Town inundated by floods

Ngayokekaung 6 August

Approximately 217 houses in six villages in Ngayokekaung Town, Ayeyawady Region were submerged by floodwaters and high tides as the area suffered from heavy rains since 5 August.

The floodwaters triggered by a combination of severe rains, strong winds and high tides also destroyed about 165 acres of paddy field in Wetkaw Village. The floods forced a monastery and a middle school in Wetkaw Village to temporarily close. Some locals and students were evacuated to safer locations.—Pyone Maung Maung (IPRD)
