Slight earthquake jolts Chauk Twsp

No immediate reports of damages or casualties were available following a slight earthquake which was recorded this afternoon, according to a source from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).


An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter inside Myanmar hit about 5 miles southeast of Chauk, Magway Region. It was recorded at 4:14 a.m. today at a latitude of 20.83°N, and longitude of 94.87°E, with a depth of 49 kilometers and about 26 miles south-southwest of the NyaungU seismological observatory, the DMH announced.
