Sloping Agricultural Land Technology implemented on 36 acres of special Naga farmland

THE Sagaing Region Agriculture Department  has  implemented  Sloping Agricultural Land Technology  on  36  acres  of  special  farmland  in  the  Naga  Self-Ad-ministered Zone of the region.   


“Sagaing  Region  had  5.25  million  acres  of  rain  crops  and  1.8 million acres of paddy fields in  the  last  mini-budget  period  (April-September,  2018).  To  develop  the  agricultural  sector  in  Naga, perennial pedigree seeds are  also  being  distributed  in  the  region,”  said  U  Win  Hlaing  Oo, the head of the Sagaing Region  Agriculture  Department.  Sagaing Region’s Irrigation Department  is  providing  water  to  560,000  acres  of  farmland  from  43  dams,  reservoirs,  lakes,  and  weirs. There are two reservoirs which  protect  42,000  acres  of  land  from  possible  flooding  of  the  Chindwin  River.  “The  Department of Irrigation and Water Utilization  Management  constructed two reservoirs, 35 dams, seven bridges, and took up other maintenance works and preventive measures, with an allocated budget of over K4.18 billion,” said U  Soe  Oo,  the  Sagaing  Region  Minister  for  Planning  and  Finance during a press conference on the third-year performance of the regional government.
