THE Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) announced that an awareness workshop on the Rice Export Zone (REZ) was held using a hybrid system on 27 May at the Mingalar Hall of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).

During the workshop, officials discussed experiences regarding REZ operations during the 2026 summer rice season, as well as upcoming plans for the 2027 monsoon rice season. Additionally, responsible personnel explained the financial and operational fundamentals of the REZ project, the procedures to be followed by participating exporter companies, loan withdrawal methods, loan terms and conditions, and regulations regarding breaches of terms.

Furthermore, sectoral discussions were carried out for cooperating with farmers, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), and the use of high-quality pure seeds and organic fertilizers.

The workshop was attended by the deputy director-general of the Department of Agriculture, departmental officials, and members from the MRF and other related organizations.

During the event, officials from the companies offered suggestions on coordinating and amending Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that present practical bottlenecks and difficulties in operations, and raised questions regarding REZ processes. Representatives from the relevant departments and associations then clarified these points. — MT/ZN
