State Counsellor receives Japan’s Foreign Minister in Nay Pyi Taw

Mr Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, paid a one day visit to Myanmar on 31 July 2019.

 

During his visit, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar received Mr. Taro KONO, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, at11:00 hrs on 31 July 2019 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw.

 

During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest and the commitment by Japan to assist infacilitating Myanmar’s democratization process, tackling the challenges faced by the Myanmar government regarding the Rakhine issue and expediting Myanmar’s national reconciliation and peace process through the good offices of Mr Yohei Sasakawa, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan for National Reconciliation in Myanmar and Chairman of the Nippon Foundation.

Following the meeting, the State Counsellor and the Japanese Foreign Minister held a joint press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

Then U Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minster for the Office of the State Counsellor,hosted a luncheon to the delegation led by Mr Taro KONO, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, at the Hilton Hotel.
