Sudan's warring parties agree to 72-hour ceasefire

April 25

Warring parties in Sudan say they have agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire from the start of Tuesday.

Sudan's military said the truce was mediated by the United States and Saudi Arabia.

The Rapid Support Forces, paramilitary group, said it agreed to the truce to facilitate humanitarian efforts.

The RSF said, "We affirm our commitment to a complete ceasefire during the truce."

The outlook remains unclear, as past ceasefires have failed to take hold and fighting has raged on in Sudan.
