Suspect in custody after explosion in France

French authorities have detained a 24-year-old Algerian man in connection with a blast in the southeastern city of Lyon.

On Friday, a paper bag left on a shopping street in the center of the city exploded. Thirteen people were injured, including a 10-year-old girl.

Footage from nearby security cameras shows a man on a bike leaving something suspicious at the scene, just before the explosion.

French media outlets have reported that the suspect is an IT student. They have also reported that the man's parents and brother have been detained as well.

A remote control detonator, screws, metal balls, and other items were allegedly discovered at the scene. Investigators suspect it was a terrorist act and are trying to determine the motive.
