Sympathize with volunteers for recognition of charity measures

December 5

The Myanmar society honours volunteers in all aspects of their charity performances. It is because those volunteers sacrifice their spare time, strength and capacity at their young age and all attachments to their environments in conducting philanthropic affairs.

The International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development which falls on 5 December every year, more commonly referred to as International Volunteer Day (IVD), is an international observance mandated by the UN General Assembly in 1985.

The significant day for 2022 is aimed to celebrate the theme of solidarity through volunteering efforts. In fact, it is a campaign which highlights the power of collective humanity to drive positive change through volunteerism. Actually, those volunteers perform noble acts to fill the blanks in society to be able to smooth all processes for all living beings.

Volunteers and their works contribute to the pleasantness, peace and prosperity of the world. In Myanmar, volunteers sacrifice their life and limbs in giving a helping hand to the people who suffered from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic in various waves. Even some of them lost their lives while assisting in helping others in order to save those persons. As a significant event, those volunteers performed rescue and relief measures in all kinds of disasters such as the Bago earthquake, Bagan earthquake, Turkiye earthquake, cyclonic Nargis, storms Mala and Giri and so on.

They do not hope for any rewards from their efforts in rescue and relief measures. They do not wish to possess recognition for their volunteer work. But they stand for their belief to give a helping hand to those from the plights. As such, anyone should not underestimate those volunteers and don’t misunderstand their work.

It is so thankful to the United Nations for adopting the decision to celebrate the International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development for honouring the actual volunteers and their noble spirit. Hence, all global people should never forget the gratitude of the volunteers in both economic and social development in order to uplift the standards of society.

On International Volunteer Day (IVD) 2022, global people need to celebrate the theme of solidarity through volunteering. For the future of the planet Earth, all global people must act together and must act now. This is not an era to stand alone but together, as one, in solidarity with each other. That is why all need to sympathize with the volunteers as well as pay attribute to them. GNLM
