Commander in Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing chaired the seventh coordination meeting of the Tatmadaw in the fight against COVID-19, which was held at the meeting hall of the Office of Commander in Chief of Defence Services yesterday.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Union Minister for Defence Lt-Gen Sein Win, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air Force) General Mya Tun Oo, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and senior military officers.
Participants at the meeting discussed the works of COVID-19 control and emergency response committees and services of military medics at the Central Civil Service Institute (Lower Myanmar).
In response to the discussions, the Senior General advised preventive measures against the disease, including personal and environmental hygiene, wearing face masks and eye shields, hand washing, avoiding crowded places and keeping these events to a minimum, and learning practices of strict rules in New Zealand and Australia in controlling the disease and containment of COVID for the overseas returnees.
He continued to say that while countries all over the world were encountering unemployment and crisis due to economic decline. He said that depending on the situation local businesses and needy persons needed to be assisted as much as possible, and that monasteries and nunneries, as well as some grass root people, require foodstuff and relief aid.
He concluded by saying that it was necessary to collect correct information from the ground to manage the COVID-19 crisis, according to a report of the Office of Commander in Chief of Defence Services.—MNA
