Team Myanmar to play two remaining World Cup Qualifiers in June

The Myanmar national team will play the remaining two group match­es of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June. Team Myanmar will start training in the last week of this month for the remaining qualifiers and will have around 10 days to prepare.

 

Myanmar will take on Ja­pan at home on 6 June and North Korea on 11 June as away game. In t h e i r first meet, Myanmar has lost to Japan 0-5 and North Korea 1-6. Myanmar squad is placed in the Group B with one point in four games played, standing at the bottom place. Japan has already advanced to the next stage with 12 points while Syria picked seven points and North Korea col­lected three points. The Myanmar team is likely to struggle to score as they are meeting the top teams in Asia and are likely to be formed with around 30 preliminary players. The semi-finals of the Myan­mar National League, a domestic club competition, will be held on 25 and 26 May so players will start training only after the tournament. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
