Japanese weather officials say unstable atmospheric conditions brought torrential rain to some parts of the prefecture on Monday morning.

The city of Minamiboso advised about 1,300 residents to immediately evacuate from their homes.

The city had heavy rain of 50 millimeters in one hour as of 9 a.m.

Tateyama City also advised all households in the city, or about 46,000 people, to evacuate.

The meteorological agency is warning of thunder and heavy rain just a week after Typhoon Faxai made landfall in the prefecture and damaged the power grid.
