Tokyo Metropolitan Government officials confirmed 298 new cases of the coronavirus in the capital.
The figure is the second-highest for a Tuesday, following 309 reported on August 4.
Mondays and Tuesdays tend to have fewer new cases compared to other days of the week, because fewer tests are conducted over the weekend.
The total number of people who have tested positive in Tokyo now stands at 35,229.
