The organizing committee of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics says it hopes to continue preparing for the Games along with the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee.
The Tokyo committee issued the comment after US President Donald Trump suggested delaying the Games for a year due to the coronavirus outbreak.
It said the committee, the IOC and the IPC hope to continue their preparations for holding safe Games from July as scheduled in cooperation with the Japanese government, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and others.
The committee said it will do so while closely watching the situation and taking advice from the World Health Organization.
