Tourist arrivals at Ngwehsaung up 31% this year

THE  number  of  local  and  foreign  tourists  visiting  the  Ngwehsaung  beach  in  Ayeyawady Region has risen by 31 per cent this year, according to the Ngwehsaung office of  the  Directorate  of  Hotels  and Tourism.


The number of travellers visiting  Ngwehsaung has increased  by  40,000    this  year.  From January to October, the number  of  tourists  crossed  176,000.  In  comparison,  the  number  of  tourists  totaled  over 134,000 during the same period in 2018. 


Ngwehsaung beach saw a 31-per cent increase in the number of tourists this year, said U Soe Win, the Assistant Director  of  the  Ngwehsaung  beach office.   


Ngwehsaung is about a five-hour drive from the commercial hub of Yangon. So, visitors from Yangon, Mandalay, Monywa, and Mawlamyine stay there for one or two nights, while people from nearby areas make day trips to the beach.
