Training course for auxiliary midwives opens in Mongton

An opening ceremony of a training course for auxiliary midwives was held at the meeting room of a public hospital in Mongton Township, Eastern Shan State on 2 September.

The training course attended by the Shan State lawmaker U Saw Mu Lar, Chairman of the township management committee U Nay Aung, departmental staff, volunteers from NGOs and local authorities was organized by the Department of Health under the Ministry of Health and Sports. First, the chairman of the township management committee gave a speech and the Shan State MP made a supplementary address in Lahu language.

Next, the township medical superintendent Dr. Thet Khaing Min clarified the aim of the training course. A total of 25 trainees is being given practical and theoretical training during the six-month course.—IPRD
