Tree-planting event to mark 74th birthday of State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi held in Bago

A collective tree-planting ceremony to mark the 74th birthday of State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi took place in a garden near the Bago River-crossing Bridge in Bago this morning.

“The event was organized by volunteers from an inter-faith peace group in cooperation with residents in an attempt to prevent the Bago River from erosion. The participants will plant perennial and shady saplings including bamboo to make the environment clean, green and peaceful, said an event organizer.
    

 

The prominent Buddhist monks, Speaker of regional parliament U Khin Maung Yin, regional lawmaker U Nyunt Shwe, member of the township development committee Daw Myint Myint Wai, representatives from political parties, volunteers from social organizations, and locals grew 100 saplings during the ceremony.—Tin Soe (Bago)
