Truck crash kills 5, injures 2 in northern Vietnam

Five Vietnamese people died and two others got injured after a truck hit a median strip and then a group of passers-by and motorbike riders on national road 5 in Vietnam's northern Hai Duong province on Tuesday morning, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The bottled water-carrying truck hit the group of local people, who were gathering at the scene of another traffic accident which happened a few hours before.

In the previous accident, a local male walker was killed after being hit by a 16-seater coach.

In the first half of this year, 8,204 traffic accidents occurred in Vietnam, killing 3,759 people, severely injuring 2,463 people and slightly hurting 3,858 others, according to the country's Traffic Police Department.
