Trump confident Kim will keep promise

US President Donald Trump has said he is confident North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will keep his promise, suggesting that Trump remains open to dialogue with Pyongyang despite its recent missile tests.

Trump took to Twitter shortly before he went out to play golf with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Japan. He said "North Korea fired off some small weapons, which disturbed some of my people, and others, but not me." North Korea fired short-range ballistic missiles earlier this month.

US National Security Advisor John Bolton said on Saturday there was no doubt that the missile launches violated UN Security Council resolutions. Nuclear talks between the US and North Korea have been in a stalemate after Trump and Kim failed to reach a deal in their second summit in Hanoi.
