US President Donald Trump has joined other world leaders at a ceremony in Britain marking the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
The US president attended the ceremony in Portsmouth, on Britain's south coast, on Wednesday. It commemorated the D-Day landings that helped end World War Two in Europe. Trump was on the last day of his state visit to Britain.
He read an excerpt of a radio speech that then US President Franklin Roosevelt gave about the operation: "Our sons ... have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our republic, our religion and our civilization and to set free a suffering humanity."
Britain's Queen Elizabeth and Prime Minister Theresa May, and French President Emmanuel Macron were among other VIP guests.
Trump has emphasized the strength of the longstanding relationship between the US and Britain in earlier speeches during the state visit. The D-Day landings are seen as a symbol of ties between the US and its European allies.
