Tunisia's PM to run for presidential election

Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed announced on Thursday that he will submit his candidacy papers for presidential election scheduled for September.

"It's a big responsibility to be a candidate in the presidential election," Chahed said at a special meeting of the national council of his party Tahya Tounes in Tunisian capital.

He added that he wanted through this candidacy to break with the system of old laws that is currently shackling Tunisia, stressing at the same time that he is the candidate of the "national forces."

Chahed is expected to submit his candidacy file to the Independent High Authority for Elections on Friday.
