THE Anti-Corruption Commission has filed corruption charges against the head of the Twantay Township General Administration Department after its investigation team found him guilty of accepting a bribe of K12 million and threatening a local.
The commission had received a complaint against U Moe Khaing Tun, the Administrator of Twantay Township, stating that he had taken a bribe of K12 million while investigating a land dispute case in Khalauk-chaikkwin Village-tract in Twantay Township of Yangon Region.
Following the complaint, an investigation team was formed by the Anti-Corruption Commission to probe the complaint.
According to a statement released by the Anti-Corruption Commission, the head of the Twantay Township General Administration Office demanded a bribe of K500,000 on 15 May, 2018 in exchange for writing a complaint on the farmland ownership dispute when his team dealt with the case.
He also demanded K12 million on 25 June, 2018 for writing a testimonial in the official letter, as per the ACC’s statement.
The Anti-Corruption Commission said the officer was found to have abused his authority by taking bribes.
A case has been registered against U Moe Khaing Tun under Section 56 of the Anti-Corruption Law at the Myoma Police Station in Twantay.
