Two bodies retrieved, rescue efforts for trapped miners underway

Out of four coal miners who were trapped in a collapsed mine in Satpyar Village, Minhla Township in Magway Region, two bodies of the miners were retrieved on 26 August.

The coal mine operated by Ingyin Taung Mining Company about five miles south of Satpyar Village, Minhla Township collapsed on Sunday evening due to severe rains and ensuing flooding in the mine on 25 August. The deceased miners are identified as Soe Aung from Kyaukhtaung Village, Minhla Township and Paing Soe Win from Hlakarya Village in An Township, Rakhine State. Rescue efforts for two trapped miners are underway.

Under the supervision of the deputy commander of the regional police force Police Col Khin Maung Latt, a group of local authorities led by Deputy Township Administrator U Win Lwin Htay rushed to the scene of incident to assist rescuers in salvaging the trapped miners.—IPRD
