Two confirmed dead in southwest China landslide

Two people, previously reported missing, have been found and confirmed dead after a landslide struck southwest China's Yunnan Province, local authorities said Monday.

 

The landslide hit Liangshui Village in the city of Zhaotong at around 6 a.m. on Monday, which led to 47 people missing, according to local headquarters for the disaster relief.

 

More than 200 rescuers, together with 33 firefighting vehicles and 10 loading machines, are combing through the debris to search for the missing people. Over 200 residents have been evacuated to safer places.
