Two dead, one injured in Hlaingthaya house fire

Two people are dead and one other is injured after a house fire in ward-9 on Moemakha Road in Hlaingthaya Township, Yangon Region at about 5:45 am on 12 June. The fire was thought to have started from a lighted candle left in altar in the house of U Hla Sein.


Firemen from the Township Fire Services Department rushed to the scene to fight the fire with the use of seven fire engines and two water tankers in cooperation with locals, and the blaze was successfully extinguished at around 6:5 am.


Two people, identified as Daw Nyunt Nyunt Yee and her granddaughter Mah Shin Than have died after a house fire. U Kyaw Shwe, identified as the husband of Daw Nyunt Nyunt Yee sustained minor injuries and was taken to Hlaingthaya People’s Hospital for medical treatment.


Fire totally destroyed the house of U Kyaw Shwe, causing a loss of K 1.5 million, according to the township Fire Services Department.
