Two dead as truck plunges into ravine in remote Chin State

Two people died after a six-wheeled truck reportedly fell into a gorge in Tedim Township, Chin State, the Ministry of Home Affairs said.


The fatal accident occurred at about 7 a.m. on 31 May when a six-wheeled truck carrying rice bags plummeted into a 100 ft. deep ravine near a bridge about 15 miles northwest of Tedim after the driver identified as Num Lam Kyint lost control of the vehicle. The truck was heading to a village in Kalay, Sagaing Region from Tedim Township in Chin State. The driver and his colleague succumbed to their injuries on the scene of accident.


Firefighters from two local fire service stations together with some local authorities rushed to the scene of accident hurriedly and sent the corpses to a public hospital in Tedim Township for autopsy.
