Two missing after boats collide in Mawlamyinekyun

Two people went missing after a head-on collision between a boat and a craft in a small river in Mawlamyinekyun Township, Ayeyawady Region, the Ministry of Home Affairs reported on Wednesday.

A ferry boat heading to Mawlamyinekyun from Myattha Village collided with a vessel coming from the opposite direction and capsized in a small river near Kyar Chaung Village at about 1 p.m. yesterday. The accident caused two people to float away in the river. Search operations for the missing people are underway.

The two boat operators identified as Tin Kyaw, 48 years old and Win Naing Soe, 42 years of age are being questioned over the incident by the local police station.—MOHA
